PLAN: Nubian Square Crescent Urban Design Guidelines

Please join members of the PLAN: Nubian Square team to discuss design guideline updates to the Crescent Parcel Request for Proposal (RFP). During this workshop we will specifically review circulation, landscaping, and other contextual developments that may affect the site.

Summary & Goals

At the heart of the city and home to the region’s busiest bus station, Nubian Square is a prime corridor for job creation, commerce, and transit-oriented development. PLAN: Nubian Square will revisit the visions presented in both the Roxbury Strategic Master Plan and Dudley Vision to evaluate if they still align with current community goals. Using these past plans as a framework, PLAN: Nubian Square will offer the City and community the opportunity to think strategically about the types of uses, public realm, and scale of development that are best suited for the future of the area.

This planning effort will create a road map for a streamlined implementation plan for publicly-owned (City/BRA/State) and vacant privately-owned parcels. From this Nubian Square focus, we will work with the community to further expand the discussion to the Roxbury neighborhood at large.

Through open dialogue and community involvement, this study will be used to develop an implementation plan to mobilize development on publicly-owned parcels.

On July 11, the BPDA Board voted to approve the PLAN: Dudley Square Process Overview and Guidelines for Development document. It is available for review here
