The Boston Planning and Development Agency's city-wide 3D Smart Model has been divided into one-kilometer tiles and exported to popular exchange formats for use in design-oriented tools. Click the 'i' for information on each file type. You can search on an address or navigate using the zoom to your area of interest. The City of Boston, DoIT through Analyze Boston, and BostonMaps Open Data offer many GIS 2D data downloads, and the BPDA has been providing CAD 3D data download through our Urban Design Technology Group (UDTG) website, but now we are able to provide 3D Data in a variety of design-oriented formats such as COLLADA DAE, DXF and SketchUp (SKP).
If you are looking for simplified 3D building files (in .Max, .OBJ and .DWG format) with no topographical data, organized by Boston neighborhood, please see the Urban Design Technology Group Downloads and Submissions page.
