MassDOT Turnpike Air Rights Parcel 7 is one of four Air Rights Parcels that that interrupt pedestrian movements between Kenmore Square and the surrounding Fenway neighborhood. Bounded by Beacon Street to the north and Brookline Avenue to the south, redevelopment of this parcel contains the potential to dramatically reshape the public realm while bringing a vibrant mix of uses to the area. Per MOU between the City and State, all Turnpike Air Rights development is formally reviewed by a Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) composed of neighborhood residents, business owners, community organizations, and professionals. After extensive BRA, MassDOT and CAC analysis and comment on design and impact, the Meredith Management was approved for the redevelopment of Turnpike Air Rights Parcel 7 in 2009. The Fenway Center program includes 500 residential units, 170,000 sf of office space, 90,000 sf of retail, and 30,000 sf of green space. In conjunction with this project, the $13.5 million reconstruction of the Yawkey Commuter Rail Station is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013.
