Project Change filed for The Merano in Bulfinch Triangle

Oct 06, 2011

The Boston Development Group has filed a Notice of Project Change for its proposed Merano building in the Bulfinch Triangle. The site is an air rights parcel at the intersection of Beverly and Causeway Streets at the northern end of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, close to the North End and the revitalized North Station area. The proposal calls for a 149-foot mixed use project that includes a residential, hotel, restaurant, and retail component. The proposed 248,000 square feet of residential space, which is new to the project, would include approximately 230 rental units that are a mix of studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom apartments, adding housing stock to the area and evening presence to the neighborhood. The 149,000 square feet designated for the hotel calls for 210 moderately-priced rooms, whose visitors will support the 17,700 square feet planned for retail and restaurant use. The plan also calls for two levels of above grade parking for approximately 184 vehicles. Initial plans for the Merano were approved by the BRA board in 2008.
