Feb 21, 2014

Mayor Martin J. Walsh celebrated groundbreaking at Northeastern University's new $225 million Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) alongside Northeastern President Dr. Joseph E. Aoun, elected officials, Northeastern faculty and students, and community members. Located at 795 Columbus Avenue, the ISEC will transform Northeastern’s research enterprise by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and increasing the university’s capacity to hire top faculty and academic leaders.

The ISEC will be approximately 220,000 square feet with six stories plus the basement, containing wet, dry, and computational research facilities as well as interactive teaching and learning spaces. This is Northeastern’s first significant academic building in 10 years.

Additionally, the ISEC will change the presence of Northeastern on its Columbus Avenue facing campus with an iconic design and attractive public green space. A new curved landscaped pedestrian bridge known as “The Arc” will connect Roxbury and Fenway across the Southwest Corridor Park.
