Boston's Complete Streets Guidelines Wins CNU New England Grand Award

Apr 11, 2014

Boston's Complete Streets Guidelines won the New England Chapter of the Congress for New Urbanism's Grand Award yesterday at the CNU New England 2014 Urbanism Summit.

Boston's Complete Streets program aims to improve the quality of life in Boston by creating streets that are both great public spaces and sustainable transportation networks. Sidewalk furniture, greenery, improved pedestrian infrastructure, bicycle lanes, and "smart" technology are just a few of the techniques covered in the guidelines.

The Complete Streets Project was lead by the City of Boston's Transporation Department (BTD) and completed in 2013. The BRA was a partner in its development.
