Boston Art Windows Opportunity for Arts/Craft Gallery or Retail Space

The spaces are located on the ground floor of the Harbor Garage, located at 70 East India Row. The storefronts face onto Atlantic Ave, looking on to the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. The opportunity is part of the Boston Redevelopment Authority's Boston Art Windows program.

Rent is free on a month-to-month basis. The tenant is responsible for insurance and utility costs. All improvements to the space are at the lessee's expense.
 
900 Square Foot Space Details
  • Large windows, great light, and many walls for hanging art work.
  • Outdoor sidewalk space for a cafe or display.
  • Bathroom.
  • Free rent.
  • Tenant must insure the space.
  • Estimated cost of utilities is $700/month. This includes heat, lights, taxes on the space, and CAM charge (common area maintenence). Heat is electric and costs may increase in winter.
  • Successful applicant will be a tenant at will, with a 30 day notice to leave.
1,500 Square Foot Space Details
  • Large windows, great light, and many walls for hanging art work.

Applicant  Requirements
  • Applicant should have retail experience running a retail operation or gallery.
  • Applicant should have marketing experience & knowledge of social media.
  • Applicant should be able to insure the space and pay utilities.

  • Retail space must be open 5-6 days a week from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
  • Windows need to be open and lights turned on in the space after dark.
  • Work should be curated by the operator.
  • Two people should be in the retail space during open hours.
  • Exterior signage requires approval by BRA.
