Vision for the South Huntington Avenue Corridor Released

Mar 29, 2013

This week the BRA planning department released draft guidelines for the South Huntington Avenue corridor. The South Huntington Avenue Framework for Future Development Review is the result of a four month long community planning effort to establish a comprehensive vision for the South Huntington Avenue corridor in Jamaica Plain and provide guidelines for future growth and the review of new projects. The draft Framework identifies many public realm improvements and ideas that would beautify and activate the corridor. Conversations during public meetings included discussions about adding street trees, plazas, street furniture, passive recreation areas, and ground-floor and local retail for everyday needs. It also identifies four areas where added height or building density might be appropriate. Hard copies of the draft guidelines are available at the Connolly (Jamaica Plan) and Parker Hill (Mission Hill) branch libraries. Please send us your feedback and join us on Tuesday, April 2nd for our fourth and final meeting to discuss the framework. We will meet at 6:30PM in the Hennigan Elementary School Cafeteria, 200 Heath Street, Jamaica Plain. If you can not attend this meeting, please email your comments to Marie Mercurio at [email protected].
