City Launches Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Campaign

Mar 09, 2011

The City of Boston’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) campaign has launched its 10th tax season, with 25 tax sites open and going strong across the city. Over the past decade, 70,000 Bostonians have had their taxes prepared at EITC Coalition sites which put $100,000 million back into Boston’s local economy and into working families’ households. The biggest obstacle to college is access to financial aid. Thanks to a $23,000 grant from the Citibank Foundation, Financial Aid U will also offer free FAFSA preparation at tax sites and at three partner high schools. Mayor Menino joined EITC staff and partners to announce the season and declare Financial Aid Awareness Week in the City of Boston. Remember: in 2011, tax day has been extended until April 18!
