BRA Receives Pinnacle Award from International Downtown Association

Sep 29, 2011

On Saturday, September 24, the BRA was presented with the International Downtown Association’s 57th Pinnacle Award for A Crossroads for a Crossing: Boston’s Downtown Crossing.  The Pinnacle Award is the highest honor of the International Downtown Association’s Downtown Achievement Awards and given to those who've created a sterling example of a successful and innovative project in the world of downtown development. The Downtown Crossing Economic Improvement Initiative (DCEII) provides a comprehensive planning framework to direct the physical, cultural and economic revitalization of Boston’s historic downtown district.  Downtown Crossing boasts a strategic central-city location, with over 1.8 million square feet of retail space and convenient access to the city’s subway lines.  Anchored by a four-block pedestrian zone developed in the late 1970s, over 230,000 people pass through daily.  The district continues to be a dynamic urban neighborhood located at the intersection of commercial, business and leisure activities.
