Ongoing Reforms

Improved Compliance

  • Following gaps identified in past audits, the BPDA’s Compliance Division underwent a dramatic overhaul beginning in 2014 with a new Director, a new Housing Policy Manager, as well as additional staff members to maintain strict standards for eligibility certification and ongoing compliance oversight as the number of IDP units created through market rate development increases. Several technology upgrades were made including moving all housing data from an antiquated Access database to Salesforce. This has allowed staff to increase oversight of project tracking at each stage of a project and ensure proper documentation is on file.
  • The BPDA also acquired Accurint, an online research tool from Lexis-Nexis that compiles data from public records and other sources. Accurint is used in addition to soliciting proof of occupancy from owners directly of income-restricted units, communicating with condo associations, and performing occasional site visits to confirm owner occupancy.
