Rio Grande Public Meeting

The BPDA is postponing all BPDA-hosted public meetings regarding Article 80 development projects and planning studies until further notice.

While projects will continue to be reviewed internally by BPDA staff, the public review process for both Article 80 development projects and the BPDA's planning studies is on hold until public meetings can be resumed.

Description:

This meeting is being organized to provide additional opportunity for the development team of the proposed Rio Grande Development to give updates on aspects of the project.

The Rio Grande Tower (the “Project”) will be located at 2343-2345 Washington Street in the Roxbury Neighborhood of Boston. The project will occupy much of the block bordered by Washington, Roxbury and Marvin Streets and Shawmut Avenue. Existing buildings on the site to remain and are part of the project are the former Roxbury Institute for Savings Building, and the former Boston Consolidated Gas Company Building. A surface parking lot supporting the 2343-2345 building completes the site.

The combined parcel has a total area of approximately 34,220 square feet. The development team proposes to create approximately 241 units of rental housing of which 20% of the units are proposed to be made affordable to eligible households. In addition, the Project will create new public plaza and enhanced pedestrian walkways on the perimeter of the site and in connection to the Dudley Square District.
