BRA receives Draft Project Impact Report for Copley Place Expansion

Aug 16, 2011

Simon Property Group filed a Draft Project Impact Report (DPIR) with the BRA for a development project located at Copley Place on the corner of Stuart and Dartmouth Streets.  Building on the strengths of Copley Place, Simon’s $500 million project will infuse a successful retail destination with an inspired and dynamic mix-use development.  The project includes 115,000 s.f. of renovation and expansion to Neiman Marcus, additional retail and restaurant space, and 318 residential units in a 47-story building.  The new design will transform the brick-paved plaza entrance to Neiman Marcus into a multi-story atrium with a glass façade welcoming pedestrians into the Wintergarden and channeling visitors to the retail stores.  Further enhancements include increasing accessibility for pedestrians to the Southwest Corridor’s entrance, community retail area, and Dartmouth Street stores, in addition to safety improvements at nearby intersections.  The project will create 1,700 construction jobs and 270 permanent jobs for Boston’s economy.
