Western Avenue Corridor Study and Rezoning adopted by BPDA Board
The final Western Avenue Corridor Study was adopted by the BPDA Board on October 13, 2022. After approval by the BPDA Board, zoning recommendations in the plan will now go in front of the Boston Zoning Commission for approval.
Summary & Goals
The Boston Planning & Development Agency launched the Western Avenue Corridor Study and Rezoning to engage local stakeholders in discussing the future of Western Avenue between Barry’s Corner and Leo Birmingham Parkway. The planning initiative will inform recommendations for new or modified zoning; build on previous planning in the area, including the North Allston Strategic Framework for Planning, the Community-Wide Plan, and planning at Harvard University; and foster a dialogue with developers and property owners. The study will also consider public realm improvements and transportation enhancements in coordination with the ongoing Allston-Brighton Mobility Study to explore multimodal improvements to Western Avenue and other transportation enhancements.
