The building includes unique features such as a multi-functional approach to rooms, stand-up workstations, LEED certified design, 130 bike racks for commuters, quiet rooms for nursing mothers, and meditation rooms for prayer and reflection. Ten percent of the workspace is unassigned, with video and audio conferencing amenities for traveling employees and virtual collaboration. The office has capacity for more than 3,500 employees.

“State Street is a leader in employment and sustainable corporate practices globally,” said Mayor Martin J. Walsh. “I am pleased that State Street has maintained its commitment to its headquarters in Boston, and has made a significant investment in the construction of a state of the art building on the growing South Boston Waterfront."

One Channel Center was approved by the BRA Board in 2012 and is part of the greater Channel Center complex. It is located in an area of the South Boston Waterfront known as the 100 Acres.
