Fairmount Corridor Planning Open Houses Offer Live and Online Options for Community Participation

Apr 23, 2014

On May 6 and May 10, the BRA will host two identical Fairmount Corridor Open Houses to solicit community feedback and comments on the Draft Fairmount Corridor Plan.

The planning area, which extends along the Fairmount Commuter Rail line, crosses the Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan and Hyde Park neighborhoods. The planning team scheduled dual open houses in different neighborhoods as well as an online survey in order to receive feedback from as many constituents across the planning area as possible.

The Draft Fairmount Corridor Plan is a product of the ongoing Fairmount Indigo Planning Initiative, which is one of the largest planning efforts ever undertaken in Boston. The BRA and their consultant team, The Cecil Group, have been working with a 25 member mayoral appointed advisory group since 2012 toward developing long and short term strategies for capital investment, business growth, employment opportunities, and housing development along the Fairmount Commuter Rail Line corridor.  At the Open Houses, attendees will learn about the planning process, interact with the BRA team and advisory group, and provide guidance on next step strategies for economic development, housing, parks, public space, place-making, transit, and quality of life in the area.

Copies of the Draft Corridor Plan will be avialable at the Open Houses for review, or can be downloaded from the BRA website anytime: Fairmount Corridor Plan

For those who cannot attend the Open Houses, a survey has been setup to collect comments and ideas. The survey can be completed here:  Fairmount Corridor Survey for Community Members Unable to Attend the Open Houses

In addition, the formal public comment period for this document is open until May 30, 2014. Comments can be submitted by email to Jeremy Rosenberger, BRA Senior Planner.

General questions about the Open House and the Fairmount Indigo Planning Initiative can be directed to Jeremy Rosenberger, BRA Senior Planner.
