BRA Announces the Columbia Point Master Plan

Nov 18, 2009

In August 2007, the Boston Redevelopment Authority began a process to prepare a Master Plan for the Columbia Point peninsula. The major goals of the Master Plan will be the following:

1. Create a comprehensive vision and sustainable plan for Columbia Point.
2. Ensure adequate transportation infrastructure to support new development.
3. Improve connections to and within Columbia Point.
4. Enhance the public realm, especially for pedestrians.
5. Coordinate plans for new development.

Project Area
The Master Plan Study Area is generally bounded by Dorchester Bay and Interstate 93. The area comprises 412.6 acres. While the Master Plan work will be focused on the Study Area, the scope of work will reach outside the area for purposes of transportation modeling and public outreach.
