Boston Planning & Development Agency announces opportunity for community benefits from Dot Block development

Apr 27, 2023

More than $350,000 available for local nonprofits

The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) today announced that nonprofits have the opportunity to apply for community benefits from the Dot Block development project. The total amount of funding that will be allocated to multiple awardees is $352,500. This funding is a result of the BPDA’s approval of the project in 2019. This approval resulted in the execution of a cooperation agreement between the BPDA and the developer resulting in the community benefits commitment.

Applicants are required to submit a plan that describes how the organization will utilize the community benefits funding to benefit the Dorchester neighborhood and produce the greatest measurable impact on the community. All awards will be subject to BPDA Board authorization and chosen applicants will be required to enter into a grant agreement with the BPDA. Applications are due May 22, 2023.

When completed, the Dot Block project will build 488 residential units, including 66 income-restricted units, across four buildings. Half of the 66 income-restricted units will be set aside as Neighborhood Diversity Preservation Preference units, meaning preference will be given to current residents of the surrounding community.
