BLWW-logo1-(2).pngOrganizers of the Boston Living with Water International Design Competition, a partnership between the City of Boston, The Boston Harbor Association, the Boston Redevelopment Authority, and the Boston Society of Architects, will host an exhibition of the competition submissions at BSA Space on Wednesday, February 25 beginning at 6:00 p.m. People are encouraged to register for this free event here.

Competition jury members will share their insights and impressions about the entries in a lively discussion moderated by WGBH’s Rupa Shenoy and announce the selected finalists that will move on to the second phase of the competition. Following the discussion, guests are invited to stay for a celebratory reception and exhibition where people can view the submitted proposals.

The organizers are very pleased with the interest that the completion has drawn. Nearly 500 individuals registered, and over 50 proposal to address climate change in Boston’s built environment were submitted from around the world.

Launched last October, Boston Living with Water is an international call for design solutions that envision a more resilient, more sustainable, more beautiful Boston adapted for end-of-the-century climate conditions and rising sea levels. Participants were asked to consider three sites, specifically chosen for their vulnerability and redevelopment potential. Ranging in scale from a building, to a piece of infrastructure, to an entire neighborhood, each competition site presented challenges that represent common urban conditions. The hope is that some of the proposals and strategies to address climate change can be implemented locally and replicated elsewhere.
