BRA Hosts Zero Net Energy & Institutional Development Presentation

Feb 28, 2014

On Friday morning the Boston Redevelopment Authority hosted a presentation by design firm Perkins+Will on Weygand Hall, a zero net energy building pilot project at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA. The project is setting a new benchmark for zero net energy practices in academic institutional development, of interest to the City of Boston because of its academic presence of 35 colleges and universities. The presentation complimented the recent work of the BRA and City of Boston around Energy Positive practices. More than forty leading public and private sustainable building practitioners attended the event.

Presentations of this type are an opportunity to share exemplary industry work and can inform best practices in Boston. Massachusetts was recently recognized as the fourth greenest state in the country by the US Green Building Council, and Boston is home to 141 LEED certified buildings totaling 37 million square feet. In February, the BRA Board approved Boston's first large multi family energy positive green building in Mission Hill.
