Cyrille-Conan(Dudley).jpgOn January 20 and 21,  a group of six finalists presented their public art proposals for the Dudley Square Municipal Building in Roxbury. Each short-listed artist had twenty minutes to present their concept for either a Wall Design project or an Outdoor Sculpture project. The public was invited to attend the presentations and submit comment cards to assist the selection committee with deliberations.

Two artists will be chosen (one from each group) to develop and install their designs at the Dudley Square Municipal Building site, which will become the new, consolidated home of the Boston Public School offices when it is completed.

The group of Wall Design finalists included Best Dressed SignsCyrille Conan, and Napoleon Jones-Henderson. The Outdoor Sculpture finalists were Christopher PuzioMadeline Weiner, and Meejin Yoon. A decision is expected to be made over the coming weeks. More information about the proposals can be found at the Boston Public Art Commission's website.

The Dudley Square Municipal Building project, which involves the refurbishment of the historic Ferdinand Building, is part of the BRA and City of Boston's ongoing efforts to revitalize the Dudley Square neighborhood.
