BRA Receives Engineering Excellence Award

Apr 05, 2012

Congratulations! The Boston Redevelopment Authority together with the Public Facilities/Property and Construction Management (PCM) department, and Weston & Sampson Engineers were awarded a 2012 Gold Award for Excellence in Engineering from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts. The award was for the collective work performed cleaning up the former Modern Electroplating Facility, a brownfield site in Dudley Square. Described as the most contaminated site in the city, the team worked to prepare the site in accordance with Department of Environmental Protection requirements for re-use allowing it to be developed into Boston's first LEED certified Police Station. The entry was selected in the top 5 of 21 entries that were recognized for engineering excellence and performance. The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) is the business association of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island engineering industry, representing over 110 independent engineering companies engaged in the development of transportation, environmental, industrial and other infrastructure. Special appreciation and thanks go to Larry Mammoli, BRA Director of Facilities Management, Steve Healy, BRA Project Manager, Nat Gorham, BRA Project Engineer, Joseph Mulligan, PCM Deputy Director Capital Construction, Tom Leahy, PCM Project Manager, and Dana Whiteside, BRA Dudley Vision Coordinator.
