Mayor Menino Announces Millennium Partners to Take Over One Franklin Street Development

Feb 03, 2012

“This agreement is a first, but very important step to a new beginning  for the site at One Franklin.  We have long dreamed of what Downtown Crossing could become, and we will soon realize that potential with Millennium stepping up to the plate and making this deal happen.  This took a lot of hard work and difficult negotiations, but we are very proud to be moving forward with a company like Millennium, which has a history of good work in our city.” – Mayor Thomas M. Menino
Project Facts
  • The City is pleased to announce that an agreement about the redevelopment of One Franklin St. has been reached between Vornado and Millennium.
  • The project will be financed by both Millennium and Vornado, with Millennium being the lead proponent of the  project.
  • We expect that Millennium will be filing a Notice of Project Change with the BRA in the next 30-60 days.
  • The BRA will reconvene the IAG for the project so that the public process can commence quickly upon receipt of the Notice of Project Change.
  • After the BRA determined that the impact created by the project’s inactivity required a new permitting process, the proponent can restart the permitting process by filing a Notice of Project Change.
  • Millennium has selected an architect for the project, Gary Handel, who recently designed the Hayward Place project.
  • The project will be a mixed-use project featuring retail and
  • commercial space along with a residential tower.
  • There are no details yet concerning the size of the project but we expect that the previously approved project will be a starting point.
  • It is Millennium’s hope that construction can begin by this time next year
