Boston Medical Center (BMC) is a non-profit 514-licensed-bed academic medical center. BMC was established in 1996 as the result of a merger between Boston University Medical Center Hospital, which was founded in 1864, and Boston City Hospital, which was founded in 1855. It is the primary teaching affiliate for Boston University's School of Medicine and is the largest quasi-public hospital in New England. BMC commits itself to providing consistently excellent and accessible health services to all and is the largest safety-net hospital in New England.

BMC filed their own Institutional Master Plan (IMP) separately from the previous joint Boston University Medical Campus/BMC IMP) for the 2020-2030 term.
