Boston Saves Children’s Savings Account (CSA) Program Evaluation

In 2016, Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s Office of Workforce Development (OWD) launched Boston Saves, a Children’s Savings Account program, with the commitment to helping Boston’s children achieve their educational dreams beyond high school. After a three-year pilot, the program is now at scale as of Fall 2019, meaning that every K2 student citywide will henceforth receive a Boston Saves account with an initial deposit of $50. Boston Saves takes a holistic approach to empower families to save and plan for their children’s future. With a focus on both children and parents, Boston Saves tries to address the needs of the whole family unit. It believes this two-generation approach is essential in creating a future-oriented culture focused on college and career readiness, and financial empowerment that ensures all of the city’s children have viable pathways toward economic success.

OWD seeks a qualified consultant for professional evaluation services, including longitudinal surveys, of the outcomes and impacts of Boston Saves.
