Spaulding Rehab Center and Menino Park
Transforming a brownfield into a healing environment
The new eight-story Spaulding facility contains 132 hospital beds a gymnasium, therapy rooms, swimming pools, two levels of parking and other accessory uses. The new space is a dramatic improvement from the center's old home by North Station, and the surrounding Menino park (the city's first universally accessible park) provides a high level of safe play value and therapeutic benefits similar to those within the facility. A confirmatory order of taking was necessary to complete the rehab center.
