Final Report

The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) and the Boston Transportation Department (BTD), in conjunction with other City departments, has released the North Station Area Mobility Action Plan (NSAMAP) Final Report.

Project Overview

The goal of this Mobility Action Plan is to develop a range of implementable near-term, multimodal transportation improvements in the areas immediately adjacent to North Station. The project area is bounded by North Washington Street, Cross Street, Sudbury Street, Cambridge Street and the Charles River, and includes notable places such as the Bulfinch Triangle, the Charles River Park condominiums, the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse, Lovejoy Wharf, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), and the Government Center Garage.

Taking its cue from the visions already developed in broader planning exercises like Go Boston 2030, the North Station Area Mobility Action Plan (NSAMAP 2016) seeks to develop actionable plans not only to improve transportation within the plan area itself, but also to help improve regional connections.

Eight private partners, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Delaware North (owners of the TD Garden), Equity Residential, AvalonBay Communities, Related Beal, Boston Properties, HYM Investment Group, and Trinity Financial have contributed $50,000 each, for a total of $400,000, to support the city’s efforts.

Reaching You – Where You Are

The City and its consultant team are committed to making improvements to the North Station area for those who live there and those who travel the area each day. To ensure that we involve as many interested parties as possible, this project’s community outreach will involve interactive public information meetings, other neighborhood events, and online.
