Berklee College of Music, located in the Fenway and Back Bay neighborhoods of Boston, is the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world. It is well known for its storied jazz program. The school enrolls 4,447 students working towards baccalaureate degrees or professional diplomas. Berklee College of Music submitted its most recent Institutional Master Plan in 2011. Major features of the plan included 168 Massachusetts Avenue, a new mixed used building which houses student residences, a new performance venue, and common space. The IMP also includes Berklee Crossroads, another building on Massachusetts Avenue which features student residences and academic space.
