CANCELLED: Downtown Municipal Harbor Plan Zoning Meeting

Beginning Tuesday, March 24, City Hall will only be open for critical services. During this time, we are asking the public to reach out to the BPDA at 617.722.4300 or through our website to be directed to the appropriate staff member. While public meetings are currently postponed until further notice, BPDA staff is working remotely and internal review of projects and planning studies is continuing.

Please visit the City of Boston's coronavirus website for the latest guidance and updates on Covid-19:

The BPDA is postponing all BPDA-hosted public meetings regarding Article 80 development projects and planning studies until further notice. While projects will continue to be reviewed internally by BPDA staff, the public review process for both Article 80 development projects and the BPDA's planning studies is on hold until public meetings can be resumed. Open comment periods will be extended until the public review process for Article 80 development projects resumes.

At this time, this excludes monthly BPDA Board Meetings, Boston Zoning Commission meetings, and Boston Civic Design Commission (BCDC) meetings due to regulatory and statutory requirements. Extra precautions will be taken during these meetings to encourage social distancing. Only projects that have previously completed their public process or items that do not require a public process would be eligible to be brought to the Board.

To ensure that our public process is equitable to all, the BPDA will not be holding virtual public meetings for Article 80 projects or planning studies at this time. We recommend that stakeholders with access to online resources engage in the public process through our website where materials for Article 80 projects and planning studies are posted.

In April 2018 Secretary Beaton approved the Downtown Boston Municipal Harbor Plan (MHP). The Secretary’s decision requires that the BPDA modify existing zoning to reflect the approved MHP. The BPDA reviewed and updated a draft zoning amendment for consistency with the MHP. The draft zoning amendments to Article 42A—Harbor Park District is available on the BPDA website for review and comments through September 4, 2019. The BPDA will host a public meeting on August 12, 2019, from 6:30–8:00 pm for community members to learn more about the draft zoning amendments to Article 42A.
